The thing I wasn't going to do this year (but I'm so glad I did)

A birds eye view of someone working on a mid year review

Hello Reader!

I'm writing this in the middle of pre-vacation chaos. You know the drill – a million things on the to-do list, debates with my kids about how many swimsuits to pack for Spain (seriously, why do I care - how much room does a swimsuit take up?), and the eternal question of whether to wear pants on the plane.

This trip has been a long time coming – originally cancelled in the earliest days of the pandemic and now finally back on the books. So naturally, I'm in full "aspirational goals before vacation" mode, which means I have a ridiculous number of things I want to accomplish before I leave.

Here's what's funny: in the middle of all this pre-travel madness, I'm taking time to write you an extra email that wasn't on my schedule. About a workshop I wasn't planning to offer this year.

Why? Because a couple weeks ago I sat down to do my own mid-year review, and once again, it absolutely blew my socks off how valuable this process is. The renewed energy, focus, and commitment I felt afterward? It reminded me that some things are too important not to share – even when your brain is consumed with swimsuit logistics.

I honestly wasn't planning to offer a mid-year review workshop this year. Last year's session was incredible, but with family travel and the end-of-school chaos, my instinct was to keep things simple. Sometimes the wise choice is to say no, right?

But clearly, this process had other plans for me.

The Magic of Mid-Year Reflection

Here's what happened when I carved out that time for myself:

Clarity emerged about what I'm truly proud of from the first half of the year (including some wins I'd completely forgotten about). Themes surfaced that I hadn't noticed while I was in the thick of daily life. And most importantly, I got crystal clear on what deserves my attention for the rest of 2025.

The whole experience reminded me why I love this work so much – and why it feels too important not to share. There's something magical about how this process cuts through the noise and reconnects you with what truly matters for the rest of 2025.

In a world full of external messages about what you should be doing, this is a chance to reconnect with your own wisdom and insights.

Three Questions to Get You Started

Before I tell you about the workshop, here are three prompts that can shift your perspective right now:

  1. What am I genuinely proud of from the last 6 months? (Personal and professional both count. Little victories absolutely matter.)
  2. Looking back, what themes emerged? (What patterns do you notice in your choices, challenges, or growth?)
  3. What would truly delight me to accomplish in the next 6-18 months? (Keep it to 6 goals max – mix of personal and professional.)

Just thinking through these questions can create momentum and that renewed sense of purpose. But there's something powerful about doing this work alongside other people who also care about creating meaningful lives and work.

Much love,

P.S. Sometimes the things we think we don't have time for are exactly what we need most. This mid-year review work falls squarely in that category for me.
